8 Best things to do in Koh Phangan

Phangan – Thai island in the Gulf of Siam, next to the Samui island.
The most famous Full Moon Party is held here, so every month thousands of traveling youth from all country come.

If you forget about the parties (which take place on a separate beach and do not interfere with anyone), this is a tranquil paradise island, where package tours and mass tourism have not yet reached.

Yoga retreats, great beaches and cheap accommodation – an amazing island where everyone can get along with others.
So let me tell you what to do here!

1. Rent a motorbike and ride around the island 🏍

Phangan is a great place to ride a motorbike.
The movement is left-sided, almost empty roads – perfect even for the first experience🙌🏻
There is nothing to do without personal transport, so this should be the first thing after checking into a hotel.
Any part of the island can be reached in 20 minutes.
Wind in your hair, salty air and jungles around – seems like a dream💔

Bike cost 200 – 350 baht ($6.30 – 11) per day💵
Unlike Samui, on Phangan, you have to leave the original of your passport in a deposit. Carefully inspect and take photos of the bike. This should be done to avoid cheating in the end.
Gasoline cost 32-39 baht ($1.25) per liter.

2. Go to the Phantip Night Market

The market is open daily from 4 pm.
A large selection of grilled seafood, meat, vegetarian dishes, national cuisine – u may find everything you want.

Pay attention to fruit shakes. Over 100 yummy flavors and any of them cost only 30 baht ($1).

3. Get up to the Secret Mountain

Not a secret, but a very pleasant place.
Here you can relax during the day – there are a pool, bar, and cafe with a tasty meal 🍜
Better to come in the evening – this is the best point to watch the sunset.

If you are driving with a navigator, carefully look around. You need to get to the sign “secret mountain”. Feel free to hide the phone and follow the arrows.
Google point is not correct❌

4. Swim and sunbathe on the Malibu Beach

Beach with white sand, azure water and, palm trees 🌴
Probably one of the best on Phangan.
Come early in the morning – before 10 there are practically no people here and you can enjoy the peace✨
Great place to fly a drone!

Driving up to the place, follow the signs, not navigator ↗️

5. Find the Bottle Beach

If you want to hide from civilization – mobile communications, transport, and crowds of people – I advise you to rent a bungalow here.
It is almost impossible to get here by land, therefore tourists occasionally sail by taxi boat.
Near each bungalow, there is a hammock. The most popular activity here is reading books to the sound of the waves.

If you decide to ride a moped, leave it at the top of the mountain and go down by foot – about 40 minutes.
Getting back is hard, so I advise you to wait for the transfer – car leaves from the cafe on the beach every 2-3 hours.
You will be taken up for 100 baht per person.

6. Have a dinner at the Koh Raham Restaurant

You can’t get out of the restaurant without a single photo.
Instagramable tables with ocean view, lots of swings and hammocks – everything for your beautiful pictures.
It’s nice to meet the sunset here, but if you don’t want to stumble upon the crowd, come before 4 pm.

Prices are more expensive than in most places on the island, but the place worse it!

7. Take a selfie with wild monkeys

Driving along the southern part of the island, carefully look around. Sometimes you can see the sign “do not feed the monkeys.” This is what you need!

Carefully watch your things, do not get out food and bright objects so that the monkeys do not pounce on you.
And of course, do not try to stroke them and do not come close.

8. Sail on a long-tail boat

The easiest and most pleasant way to explore the island and get to the remote beaches in the north, as Bottle Beach is a taxi boat.
There are always several fishing boats on each beach, so it’s not hard to find them.

The trip will cost 100-300 baht ($3-10), depending on the distance and time.
